In 2004, GS Yuasa Corporation was established by merging Japan Storage Battery Co., Ltd. (GS brand) and YUASA Corporation (YUASA brand) – two large manufacturers of the accumulator batteries – to join efforts for promotion of their products on the international market. Because of this integration, the transnational corporation was established being the largest one in whole Asia and in Japan in particular, with 13% share on the world market of lead-acid storage batteries. The corporate headquarter is in Tokyo, Japan. For now, the GS Yuasa Group consist of 81 subsidiaries and 41 affiliates in 20 countries throughout the world with staff of 12,000.

The company use high-level automation of the production processes to increase labour productivity and minimize the human factor influence on the product. The plants continuously introduce innovations to the manufacturing for improvement of the consumer qualities of the production. Cooperation of GS YUASA and Kyoto Technical University has resulted in the cutting-edge developments and solutions.
