Good day, dear Partners!
So the summer car season has come to an end. The average daily temperature is getting closer and closer to 0, which means that you can no longer delay preparing your car for winter. This is not the easiest event with many nuances, but by dealing with this issue in a timely manner, you will significantly reduce the chance of getting into an unpleasant situation and protect yourself on the roads.
Here are the main activities that the owner of any car needs to do:
1. Replace summer tires with winter tires. Due to their composition, winter tires are able to remain soft enough at sub-zero temperatures. This softness, combined with a deeper tread on the tire, provides the necessary grip. Driving in winter on summer tires is extremely dangerous, this point should not be neglected under any circumstances!
2. Charge the battery and clean the terminals. You should always monitor the condition of your battery, and before the onset of winter, this is especially important so that you don’t find out on the next sunny morning that your car can’t start without a jump starter. Negative temperatures have a negative effect on any batteries and accumulators. Don’t forget to inspect the wires, tighten the contacts, and clean the terminals from oxidation. If the battery loses charge too quickly, be sure to take it in for inspection or buy a new one.
3. Replace non-working headlights. In winter, short days give way to long dark nights, and therefore it is important to make sure that the car’s lighting is working. Clean the headlights from clouding, dirt, and replace weakening bulbs. This will definitely help you both in the dark and during heavy snowstorms.
4. Replace technical fluids. It is very important to check all technical fluids of the car. Replace engine oil, brake fluid, cooling fluid, and antifreeze. Since all vehicle systems are subject to increased loads in winter, such a procedure will extend the service life of the vehicle as a whole, reduce wear and tear on its internal systems and the likelihood of breakdowns. It should also be noted that some technical fluids have their own winter versions that help the vehicle cope with loads in low temperature conditions.
Do not forget to service your vehicles in a timely and proper manner, then all trips will be pleasant and safe. We wish you an interesting and safe winter driving season!
Sincerely, LLC GC "MAKNOT"
